Commission for the Review of Social Assistance in Ontario Releases its Report
The report, “Brighter Prospects, Transforming Social Assistance in Ontario,” was released October 24, 2012, by the Commission for the Review of Social Assistance in Ontario. The report calls for the transformation of Ontario’s social assistance system. Frances Lankin, Commissioner, states, “Putting people on a path to a better life reduces poverty and strengthens our communities.” The nonprofit sector as a steward of community will have an ongoing role working in partnership with government and business to ensure the successful inclusion of those most vulnerable in our communities. Read the report and what others in the sector are saying about it (see sidebar).
